Jay was born in Chicago, IL on May 26, 1936 to William J. Sennott II (Bill) and Marion McKinley. He lived most of his childhood and young adult life in Winnetka, IL. He graduated New Trier High School in 1954 and the University of Notre Dame in 1958. He married Janet Pigman on July 7, 1972. Together they raised their daughter, Jennifer, in Chicago.
Jay was Vice President at Goldman Sachs in its Bond department. He retired from Goldman Sachs in 1994. Jay spent 5 more years with SCI Investments and finally retired in 1999 – after over 40 years in the investment business. Throughout his life, he was actively involved in local organizations and was the president of the Chicago Athletic Association, Saddle and Cycle Club, and the Lyric Guild Board of Chicago. He was an active member in his church parish and engaged in numerous charitable organizations.
Jay enjoyed running, golf, tennis, horseback riding, skiing, traveling, and watching college football, specifically Notre Dame football.
Jay lived in Scottsdale, Arizona for the last few years of his life. Jay and Jan enjoyed many years of visiting Arizona over their 50+ years of marriage and made it their home in 2023. A memorial will be held for Jay on Saturday, May 3rd at 3pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home (4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018).
A reception will be immediately following. We will be having another celebration of life for Jay (and Jan) in Chicago, IL at a later date this summer (2025).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the William J. Sennott Scholarship Fund at Loyola Academy in Chicago. (Wm J. Sennott Scholarship) The scholarship Fund was established by my father for his father. You will need to scroll down to find his name among the scholarships. My parents were both strong advocates for education. OR, consider a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of America (Boys & Girls Club of America) a philanthropy that was important to my mom.
