William Arthur Skibinski, 87 of Gaylord, passed away at Munson Healthcare McReynolds Hall on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Born in Bay City on May 15, 1938, he was the son of Valentine and Dorothy (Dolsen) Skibinski. Bill grew up in Bay City where he graduated from St. Stanislaus Catholic High School. He served four years in the Army Reserves.
Bill met his future wife, Mary Ann Moran, in Bay City through her brother, Tom. They were married at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Farmington Hills on April 30, 1966.
Bill and Mary Ann lived and raised their two daughters in Farmington Hills. Bill worked as a computer analyst for General Motors for many years. After retiring, they moved to Gaylord to a home they had built in Michaywe.
Bill was a member of St. Alexander Catholic Church in Farmington Hills and later at St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord. His Catholic faith was a focus in his life, something that Mary Ann took note of when they first met. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and a Past Grand Knight in Farmington Hills and Gaylord. Bill was always faithful and very proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus. He wore his uniform with pride. He was Color Corp Commander before he became ill.
In his spare time, Bill was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling to state and national bowling tournaments. He and Mary Ann enjoyed traveling, including several cruises with friends. Primarily in his younger years, he also enjoyed hunting. Bill loved all sports. He played horseshoes in Gaylord and in Farmington Hills he played baseball with a group of friends from GM. He also enjoyed golfing.
Bill is survived by Mary Ann, his wife of 59 years; his daughters, Lisa (Jason) Jurczyk of Wyandotte, and Kristin Skibinski of Ann Arbor; his sister, Bonnie (Jon) Bennett of Essexville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Jim, Ted, and Tommy.
The family will visit with friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service where the Knights of Columbus will offer a Rosary at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Mary Cathedral where visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
