William "Pat" Patrick Turner, age 79, a longtime
Atoka, OK resident. He was born on Monday, August 13, 1945, to William Harvey and Hattie Emma Jean (McDowell) Turner, at Sayre, OK. Pat passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 at
Durant, OK. Pat attended and graduated from Delhi High School. Throughout his schooling, he obtained a double master's degree, double bachelor's degree, and later received his Principal and Superintendent Certification. He attended Sayre Community College on a baseball scholarship and later transferred to Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He also attended and graduated from SOSU. Pat was an Educator at Atoka Public Schools. He started teaching at Atoka in August of 1992 and retired in 2023. Pat went back to work for Atoka Schools part time after retirement and in total taught 33 years. He married Anita Dorthene (Bourland) on Friday, October 10th, 1969 at Shamrock, Texas. They have cherished their 55 years of marriage together. Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atoka. He was proud to serve on the Atoka City Council for the past five years. He enjoyed playing golf, driving anywhere with anyone, going to eat around town and buying meals for people. He liked being social, collecting things, going to auctions and estate sales, collecting hats, and vehicles. He was always the life of the party. Pat loved to put up the Christmas lights every year, only to leave them up nearly year 'round.
Pat is survived by his wife, Anita Dorthene Turner of the home in
Atoka, OK; daughter, Tracy Broughton and Michael of Caney, OK; son, Patrick Turner of
Atoka, OK; grandson, Ethan Magby and fiance Mariah of Norman, OK, Kaden Magby and wife Sarah of
Atoka, OK, Ryan Broughton and wife Stephanie of Brookings, SD, Hayden Turner of
Atoka, OK, Maddox Turner of
Atoka, OK; great grandchild, Nova Magby and one more on the way; brother, Mike Turner and wife Marla of Camp Springs, TX; niece, Gina Webb of Elk City, OK; nephews, Matthew Farris of San Angelo, TX, Jake Turner and wife Elizabeth of Williamsburg, VA, Josh Turner and wife Erica of Lubbock, TX; along with many great nieces, nephews, cousins, students, and friends that he cherished deeply.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, William Harvey and Hattie Emma Jean (McDowell) Turner; sister, Gloria Jean Farris and husband Lyndon, Susan Gayle Turner; parents in law, J. C. Bourland and wife Opal.
