William Elex Wagner passed away on June 22, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on May 22, 1967, in Donalsonville, Georgia, William was a man whose presence was as substantial as his heart. He departed this world in Panama City Beach, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.
William was predeceased by his father, William Roy Wagner, and is survived by his devoted mother, Ida Wagner. His legacy continues through his three loving daughters, Mindy Wagner, Courtney Meade, and Sarah Wagner (Elex), who will forever hold their father in their hearts. William was a cherished brother to Ray Wagner, Beth Tyus (Keith), Levon Weeks, Karen Mercer, and Kristie Wagner (Clark). His joy was multiplied by his four grandchildren, Lexy, Greyton, Payton, and Paisley Roy-Ann, who brought immense happiness to his life.
A lifelong resident of Jackson County, William was a man of faith, part of the Assembly of God community, and attended services whenever he could. His journey of education and self-improvement was marked by the completion of his GED, a testament to his belief in the power of learning at any stage of life.
William's professional life was as varied as it was fulfilling. He worked tirelessly as a mechanic and in farming before dedicating 13 years to Walmart as a manager. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and he later took on the role of Maintenance Mechanic Manager with Bennett Eubanks Oil Company, continuing to serve with distinction for another 14 years.
His passions were many, but perhaps none so prominent as his love for building and driving race cars. Drag racing was not just a hobby for William; it was a pursuit that fueled his competitive spirit. He also found solace and joy in fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles. Above all, the time spent with his grandchildren was the most precious to him, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
William's life was further enriched by the companionship of his special pet dog, Sporty, who was a constant source of comfort and friendship.
He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his robust laughter, and the deep bonds he formed with his lifelong best friend, Johnny Neel, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
William Elex Wagner lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his passions. His Christian faith guided him, and his actions reflected the love he had for those around him. As we bid farewell to William, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A Funeral Service for William will be on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM Central Time at McAlpin Funeral Home with Rev. Eva Howell and Rev. Jimmy Wright officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery.
