William 'Willie' Cole Obituary

William 'Willie' F. Cole, a beloved son, father, brother, friend, and canine companion, found his eternal rest on July 8, 2025, in the embrace of his Charlestown, Indiana home, surrounded by the loving presence of his family. Born on November 22, 1956, in New Albany, Indiana, Willie lived a life that was not merely measured in years but in joyous memories and cherished moments.

As a dedicated driver for the car auction, Willie embodied a spirit of adventure that seamlessly merged with his passion for classic muscle cars. His prized possessions included a striking 1969 GTO Judge, a sleek Ford Mustang, and his blue 1977 Ford F-100, each vehicle telling a story of love for craftsmanship and the thrill of the open road. Beyond the realm of cars, he also found joy in the simple pleasures of watching wrestling, the exhilarating reality show Naked & Afraid, fishing with Marshal and Steve, going to car shows, and enjoying Rod Runs that brought enthusiasts together. A true hobbyist, he possessed an unyielding zest for life, engaging in motorcycle rides that filled the wind with laughter and memories. Willie was blessed with a dear friend Jim Davis.

Willie's personality was as vibrant as his cascading facial hair, which earned him playful nicknames including Sy from Duck Dynasty, ZZ Top from the famous rock band, and even Macho Man Randy Savage during his younger days. Each moniker reflected not only his distinctive look but his larger-than-life spirit that drew people near.

Central to Willie's heart was his grandson, Logan Cole. Willie’s pride and joy emanated through the joy of his family life, and it was the love for Logan that etched the deepest lines of contentment upon his soul.  He and Logan spent much of their time together fishing and making lasting memories. As a father to Lester Cole (Paulette) and William 'Bill' Cole (Crystal), and a brother to Marshal, Steve (Rhonda), and Glenda Cole Tincher, his children's mother and friend, Pam Cole, along with his fur baby Bongo; familial ties were woven tightly with love and shared experiences. Even as he faced the world, the memory of his late father, Jesse Cole, and mother, Anna Mary Frances (Hutchinson) Cole, who shaped him into the man he became along with his sister Brenda Fouse and best dog, Daisy, he embraced the snippets of his past that he cherished dearly.

Through the years, Willie maintained connections that spoke of loyalty and camaraderie, especially with his best friend Jim Davis. Together they navigated the highways of life, relishing both the highs and lows with laughter and shared stories. Even in an unbreakable bond between him and Bongo, his faithful dog, the essence of his affectionate nature resonated—a soft reminder of the warmth that only a beloved companion brings.

As those who loved him gather in remembrance, visitation will be held on July 13 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and on July 14 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown. The funeral service will follow on July 14 at 1:00 PM, after which Willie will be laid to rest in Charlestown Cemetery in a burial ceremony beginning at 2:00 PM.

Willie's legacy is one of connection, adventure, and unwavering love. Though he has departed this world, the memories of his laughter, the stories of his adventures, and the warmth of his heart will live on in those who cherished him. He was a man who truly understood the beauty of living fully, leaving behind a tapestry of love woven from the threads of family, friendship, and passion.
