William "Bill" Woodruff, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Janet, with whom he built a lifetime of cherished memories. He is also survived by brothers, David Woodruff and Jeff Romans; three sons, W. Wayne Woodruff II (Elizabeth), Victor J. Woodruff (Kim), and Timothy S. Woodruff (Helen); loving grandchildren, Julia Sarra (John), Colton Woodruff, and Cody Woodruff; and great-grandchildren, Violet Sarra and Grant Sarra. He will be remembered lovingly by his niece, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, James "Junior" H. Woodruff, Jr., and his sister, Janet Frost.
Born in Jackson, Ohio, and raised in Columbus, Bill attended Central High School, where he developed the strong work ethic that would carry him through life. He went on to work at Timken for 30 years to provide for his wife and three sons. After retiring, Bill stayed active through contract work, putting his skills and passion to use on a variety of building and remodeling projects.
Bill was a man of faith and unwavering values. He lived his life with kindness, humor, and a great love for his family. Nothing brought him more joy than gathering with loved ones-whether it was out on the water, fishing, playing cards and board games, or simply sharing stories and laughter.
Bill proudly cheered on The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Guardians. He also had a special fondness for Westerns, enjoying countless afternoons watching his favorite classic films.
Bill had a true appreciation for the outdoors. In that spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, you plant a tree in his memory and raise a beer in his honor, to celebrate a life well-lived.
Bill's legacy of love, hard work, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered.
