MEREDITH / HOLDERNESS---On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Wilson N. Earl, 84, of Holderness, NH, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord with his family by his side. A man of deep faith, Wilson had no doubt where he would be after leaving this earth.
Born on June 3, 1941, Wilson lived life to the fullest, surrounded by family and friends. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Meredith, NH, where he faithfully served in many ways-reading and studying his Bible daily, singing joyfully in the choir, listening to Christian music, and working quietly behind the scenes on numerous church projects.
Wilson was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Beulah (Libby) Earl; his beloved wife, Margaret (Royea) Earl; and his brother, Eugene Earl.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Earl) Hamilton, and her husband, Michael, of Meredith; granddaughters, Amanda (Hamilton) Lewis and her husband, Troy, of Moultonborough, and Jaime-Rose Kelley and her husband, Michael, of Littleton; great-grandchildren, Landon, Emily, and Sydney Lewis; sister, Marjorie (Earl) Newcomb and her husband, Walter; brother, George Earl and his wife, Mary-Lee, of Meredith; brother-in-law, Robert Royea; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Joan Royea; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Wilson and Margaret shared a love of travel, exploring destinations across the United States and Canada. Some of their favorite trips included visits to Prince Edward Island, Glacier National Park, Niagara Falls, and summers spent at Head Beach Campground in Maine.
He cherished time with his family and created many lasting memories, whether playing checkers with his great-grandson Landon (rarely losing!), teaching his grandchildren to identify birds, or building birdhouses. His love of woodworking was evident in the beautiful projects he crafted from start to finish-cutting trees, milling lumber, and transforming it into everything from furniture to jewelry boxes. Those fortunate enough to receive one of his pieces knew it was made with care and love. He also had a talent for welding and took pride in both crafts.
Wilson worked for many years with the Holderness Highway Department, where he formed lifelong friendships. He later ran heavy equipment for Audley Construction, always happiest when operating a large bulldozer, the bigger the machine, the bigger his smile.
In 2023, Wilson moved in with his daughter and son-in-law, where he continued to enjoy family time and visits with friends. He was honored to attend his great-grandson Landon's high school graduation in 2024 and recently celebrated great-granddaughter Emily's 16th birthday, often chatting with her about her new job and driving lessons. He shared many special moments with his youngest great-granddaughter Sydney, crafting and watching her dance. He especially looked forward to visits from Amanda and Troy, enjoying updates on their lives and church community at Mountain View Church.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 14, 2025, at Green Grove Cemetery in Ashland, NH, followed by a reception and celebration of life at First Baptist Church in Meredith.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to one of the following organizations: Lakes Region Visiting Nurse Association, 186 Waukewan St #6023, Meredith, NH 03253; First Fruits Food Pantry, 322 Upper Bay Road, Sanbornton, NH 03269; or a charity of your choosing.
