Xonia Lopez de Powell passed away on Monday 6/16/25 in Henderson, Nevada.

Xonia was born in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico to Catarino Lopez & Manuela Ruiz Lopez on 11/1/1936.

Xonia would travel to California with her father as a teenage girl and visit her beloved cousins who she would become like an older sister too. Xonia would eventually leave Mexico and settle in Southern California. Her early employment would consist of working in factories. She would go on to work in the insurance industry with the Swett & Crawford Group and later would join RHH a subsidiary of the AON Corp where she would eventually retire from.

Xonia would marry David Powell her husband of 53 years.

They would retire from work in the early 1990’s then would travel all over the globe together. They would travel to Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway.

Xonia was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, brother Catorino and most recently her closest brother Alfonso R. Lopez.

Xonia is survived by her husband David, her son Joseph Jeffrey Powell, nieces Eunice Sierra, Edna McKenna, sister-in-law Juanita “Jenny” Lopez, cousins Diane “Pinky” Guess and Christina Reese.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Henderson, Nevada or St. Jude’s Charity on her behalf.

She was well loved by all whom she came in contact with. Gone but never to be forgotten!
