Yvonne Bryant Obituary

Yvonne Denise Bohannon-Bryant, daughter of Freddie and Remoldus Bohannon, mother to many and friend to all, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Yvonne, formerly of Bridgeport, moved to Flint Michigan in 1977 where she lived most of her adult life and became known as the "big sister" to her late uncle William Bohannon children. Yvonne received her education from Bassick High School where she obtained several honors in academics and maintained recognition for having perfect attendance. She continued her education at Butler and Nancy Taylor Business School before relocating to Flint Michigan where she obtained her CNA certification from Ross Medical School. Yvonne also traveled with The Crusaders for over 10 years studying and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Yvonne accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized at Mount Airy Baptist church. She was a member of Rising-Star Missionary Baptist Church of Flint, MI for may years. Rising-Star church members is where Yvonne met most of her friends who became her extended-family whom she grew to love and cherish until the day she took her last breath. Besides her love for family and friends, Yvonne loved cooking! In the words of her grandson, "Granny can burn the food, and it will still taste good". She also enjoyed to travel and had a passion for different genres of music. Yvonne was a ball of fun and she lived a full life. Although she had quite a few loves, her first love was her family, particularly her grandkids. Yvonne loved her grandkids, having a special bond with each of them. She was truly the most amazing granny! Yvonne leaves behind to cherish her five children; son Stanley Tremont Laws (Bridgeport, CT) daughter Shavon Katrina Milton (Norcross, GA) son James Haywood Bryant Jr. and daughter Keniyra Sha-Niece Collins both of Shreveport, LA. Yvonne also leaves behind her son Shannon Maurice Collins (Upper Marlboro, MD) Yvonne leaves to cherish twelve grandchildren, LaMario Tremont Laws, Raven Brittany Laneice Laws, Antwan Antonio Johnson, Jalen Ahmere Milton, Jayvon Shnull Milton, Aniya Niveh Collins, Daverion Ja'von Collins, Day-Rene Collins, Gabrielle Celeste Bryant, James Haywood Bryant III, Journey E'Moni Jones and Kendrick Sterling Collins and one great-grandson, Ahmaree Andre "Squirt" Johnson. She also leaves to cherish two God children, Jarvis Love and her God-daughter, Raymani Gonzalez. Anyone who knew Yvonne, was given the grace to be blessed. She was a light bearer who shined wherever she went. Today we lay her to rest, but we will forever allow her light to echo in our hearts and in our deeds. God Bless Your Yvonne Denise Bohannon-Bryant
