Zella Olson Obituary

Zella Olson, age 85, of Porter, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1939, in Wann, Oklahoma, to John and Ruby (Hugaboom) Roberts.
Zella is survived by her three daughters, Tammie (John C.) Kelley, Rhonda (Jeff) Bishop, Valinda Lee (Richard) Petty; son, Roy Edward Olson; daughter in law, LeeAnn Jones; three granddaughters, Tina (Devlin) Howe, Taz Lee, Stephanie (Josh) Durden; five grandsons, John (Laura) Kelley, Ryan (Whitney) Kelley, Aaron Lee, Brandon (Nicki) Hammock, Michael (Cammie) Hammock; sister, Betty Paul; brother, Allen (Cathy) Roberts; 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, Roy E. Olson; son, Randy Jones; three sisters, Beatrice Neill, Thelma Stevens, Virginia Perkins; three brothers, John Ward, Dean Roberts, and Verlin Roberts.
Zella loved to travel and has visited all 50 States and all national parks. One of her favorite travel destinations was to Alabama and the Talladega NASCAR Race with her family.
Zella was also very active in the community, volunteering many years at the Duneland Resale Shop and the Friends of the Indiana Dunes, and volunteered many hours at the National and State Park.
Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Indiana Dunes, P.O.
