Ginny Wilkerson Obituary

It is with eternal sadness, that we announce the peaceful passing of Virginia "Ginny" Adele (Butterfield) Wilkerson at the age 87, on January 14, 2025. She was surrounded by family in her final moments.

Ginny was born on July 29, 1937 in Manteca, California. She grew up in Oakdale, California and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1955. She later became a long-term resident of Woodland, San Ramon, and St. Helena, California.

Ginny had a fulfilling career as a mother and Computer Analyst, retiring from Chevron Corporation in 2002, in San Ramon. While in St. Helena, she volunteered many hours to Girl Scouts of the USA and Kiwanis Kapades.

Ginny had a lifelong passion for Native American Indian culture, embracing its heritage, jewelry, pots, artwork, music, and artifacts. She also had a deep affection for teddy bears, collectible antiques, hummingbirds, butterflies, Kokopellis, succulents and moon watching. A true spirit seeker, Ginny was a beacon of love and light to all who knew her. Creative and multi-talented, Ginny excelled in numerous crafts and hobbies.

Ginny is survived by her devoted husband and lifelong partner of 68 years, Glen Wilkerson. She leaves behind two loving daughters: Laurie (Roy Shields) and Cheri (Javier Rocha); seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara (Alvin) and Anita (Charlie, deceased), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private graveside burial will be held in June 2025, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California. A small "Celebration of Life" gathering will be held the following day.
