They were married for nearly 50 years before her passing in 1998. Later, he earned his Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University, then his Master's degree from Boston University in Massachusetts, and PhD at University of Oklahoma. Dr. Mitchell taught my Western Civ. class at OBU along with Dr. Farthing, who we also lost last week. Mitchell was always kind, understanding, and giving when I'd stop by his office seeking further explanation and clarity on a point he'd made in class. He was also an incredible poet. I was invited to a Christmas gathering at his home where he delighted us with a reading of some of his works. A good and faithful instructor and man. He will be missed. I pray his family will feel God's grace and His mercy. Comfort and peace to you all.
