Ute Leuthardt Obituary

Leuthardt - Ute E., 82, passed away in her sleep on May 25, 2025, in East Moriches, NY. Born on January 30, 1943, in Northern Germany, Ute brought with her a vibrant spirit and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Over the years, she cultivated a life rich in creativity, education, resilience, and warmth, always surrounded by loved ones. A master gardener with an eye for beauty and detail, Ute found joy in nurturing both plants and people. Her garden was a reflection of her soul, colorful, thriving, and lovingly tended. She was also a gifted cook who delighted in preparing meals that brought people together. Her dinner parties were legendary among friends and neighbors, filled with laughter, good food, and flowing wine. Ute had a passion for handmade crafts and took pride in creating things with her own hands. Whether it was a carefully stitched piece or a thoughtful gift made from scratch, her creations carried the mark of her care and thoughtfulness. She was an avid reader who loved to lose herself in books and a spirited card player who enjoyed the camaraderie of friendly competition. Her love for the sea was ever-present, a constant source of inspiration and peace throughout her life. That same sense of calm strength defined her character to the end, kind and generous to those around her, wise beyond measure, fiercely independent, resilient through life's challenges, and always able to find humor even in difficult times. Ute was predeceased by her cherished children, Karin Leuthardt and Christian Leuthardt; her husband, Rodney Leuthardt; and her four-legged loves, Annie, Kaki, Amber, Sam, Mugsy, and Ollie, who brought joy to her days. You leave behind many friends and neighbors, and while I am sad to see you leave this earth, I take comfort in knowing you are now at peace, reunited with your beloved children and faithful four-legged companions. May your memory bring comfort to all who were privileged to call you a friend. You were a mom to me for so long, you were there for the break-ups, the make-ups, the bar exam, graduations, moving, court appearances, shopping, annual IKEA shopping sprees, trips to seaside towns like Greenport, Northport, and Port Jeff, we did it all! I will always carry you in my heart. Everything has and will continue to be done according to your wishes. Love always, Christina "Tina" Nankervis. Private Service.

Although we lost touch over the years, I have never forgotten the good times, food and fellowship you shared with me on several occasions. I was always impressed with your beautiful gardens and feel fortunate to have so many good memories of times shared. You are now reunited with your beloveds and for that I can rejoice. Until we meet again, rest in peace forever. Mimi Johnson Wood

I'm not really sure how to share all my thoughts! It's been a long road together even being 3000 miles away for a good part of it. I have always looked up to you for being so strong in such a challenging life. You have been a major pillar of strength, tough love, brutal humor, and that no matter how hard it gets you have to rise above and not self-distruct. From me and Chris spooning up all your Nutella, to fully pissing RAL off when we sank Hank. My amazing relationship with Karen who made me feel like the red headed step brother... You let us be us no matter how much we were a pain in the a#s, no matter how much trouble we got into, no matter how many beers we consumed at the boathouse you still treated me as your extended family... I knew this day would come and I am so torn on feeling like I have lost an amazing woman in my life but I know that you are finally with the ones you love! I missed seeing you by one month but someday a long time from now hopefully, I will see that ear to ear grin and I'm pretty sure a witty knock on something I did back in the day or something you witness from where ever you are know with Chris and Karen by your side... Till we weed again!!!
