Phyllis "Cindy" Bolander
Born: July 28, 1951 in Olney, IL
Died: January 11, 2025 in Peru, IL
Phyllis "Cindy" Bolander, 73, originally from Olney, died January 11, 2025, at Liberty Village in Peru. Cindy was born July 28, 1951 in Olney, IL, the daughter of G.F. "Gib" and Garaldine (Hickel) Bolander. She was a 1969 graduate of East Richland High School and graduated with her Bachelors in Education from Murray State University. Cindy spent most of her career teaching special education, retiring from South Eastern Special Education in 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie (Michael) Weitl, of Oglesby, and three grandchildren, Bo, Clara, and Anna. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sally Gottfried, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation Rites will be accorded, and a graveside service will be held for Cindy at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Olney. A lunch will follow at Mis Tres Potrillos. Memorials may be made to the Cindy Bolander Scholarship Fund. This fund will be used to help support Richland County youth in their college endeavors. Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.
