Francine Far Obituary

Francine D. Far
July 5, 2025
Francine D. Far, 79, of Milford, Connecticut passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 5, 2025. She was the beloved wife of 57 years to the love of her life, Robert J. Far. Francine was born in New Haven on November 10, 1945, the daughter of the late Frank M. D'Andrea and Mary (Malazzi) D'Andrea. She was a resident of Trumbull, Connecticut later relocating to Sarasota, Florida and finally settling for the last 30 years in Milford, Connecticut.
She started her career as a secretary with the Society of the Sigma Xi in New Haven, Connecticut. Shortly thereafter she partnered with her husband in a number of successful businesses in Connecticut and Florida. Including a Danish Hearth Restaurant & Bakery, a Carvel, Far & Far Property Management and Heavy Duty Towing. Francine also practiced as a Real Estate Agent in the state of Florida. When she returned to Connecticut she worked as a bookkeeper in her family's business before retiring.
Francine enjoyed boating with her family, living on the ocean, gardening and hosting holidays with her husband. So many memories were made in Florida spending many days boating to sandbars for swimming. Or driving the boat to the Hyatt Regency for brunch.
Christmas was by far her favorite holiday. She loved hosting Christmas Eve and cooking the 7 fishes. She packed the house with Christmas decorations and it was always a great time complete with a visit from Santa for the kids. She and her husband truly enjoyed hosting and getting the family together.
Francine absolutely loved her grandchildren! She supported them in everything they did and loved hearing about what they were up to.
Francine is survived by her children, Darin Far of Fairfield and Daria (Ron) Nettleton of Clinton; her loving grandchildren, Cole and Ava Nettleton and Brooklyn Far; her former daughter-in-law, Jen Far; sister in law, Jean Far; nephew Chris Far and his wife Mary Ann; brother in law, Frederick Fulton; sister, Mary Grace D'Andrea; brother, Frank (Janis) D'Andrea as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert J. Far, her loving daughter in law Dorothy (Chrostek) Far, nephew Glenn Far, sister Betty Lou Fulton, sister Ann Marie (Babe) D'Andrea, brother-in-law, Vincent Far and sister-in-law Louise Far.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Connecticut Hospice of Branford for the excellent in home care they provided. As well as support to the family.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church, Madison at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025. There are no calling hours.
Finally, Francine had a little black poodle, Dante, early in her marriage that she loved endlessly. She loved dogs and had many during her lifetime. Francine enjoyed visits from her daughter's constant companion, her dog Maisey. She always made Fran smile and in her last days Maisey would stand on her back legs, paws gently on the bed to see Grandma. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, Town of Branford, 749 East Main Street, Branford, CT 06405. For online memorial see www.wsclancy.com.
