Candelaria Chavez, 95, of Wichita Falls passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
A rosary prayer will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Vigil service and the visitation until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls with Father Jonathan Demma, celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wichita Falls under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Candelaria was born on February 2, 1930 to the late Francisco and Natividad (Moran) Venegas in Sanderson, Texas. After High School, she moved to Wichita Falls. Candelaria met the love of her life Barney Chavez and the couple married on September 9, 1951. They spent many wonderful years together before his passing in 1996. Candelaria work as a seamstress for many years and was well known as the “The Sewing Lady” around the area. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and served on the Guadalupanas organization. Candelaria loved her Lord Jesus Christ and would pray for not only her family, but everyone. She loved her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. This special soul will truly be missed by many family and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, Candelaria was preceded in death by a son, Frank Chavez; and three brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Robert “Bobby” Chavez and wife, Katie, Josephine “Josie” Sigala, and James Chavez and wife, Wendy; eight grandchildren, Robert Chavez Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Christian Chavez Sr., Lisa Sanchez and husband, Jesse, Rosella Sigala, Anthony Sigala, Joshua Chavez, Lauren Chavez and Matt Chavez; seven great-grandchildren, Christian Jr., Gabriella, Valerie, Heidi, Alexis, Anthony Jr. and Jiselle; also survived by her two sisters, Frances Corbett and Matilda Ruiz.

we were honored to be deliverers of meals on wheels to Candy for several years at her home she was a treasure and we loved her. we were out of town the funeral time, but the family is in our prayers.
