Dwight Davis Obituary

Dwight W. "Ike" Davis Jr., of New Market, VA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his home. He was born in Baltimore, MD on September 1, 1952, to the late Dwight W. Sr. and Margaret B. Davis. He was a truck driver until health issues made him unable to do so. He spent considerable time in his life enjoying numerous hobbies including hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, horticulture, and metal detecting. He was very accomplished in all of these.

He is survived by his wife and caregiver Suzanne Davis of New Market; son Daniel A. Davis and his wife, Megan; granddaughters Emma G. Davis and Maisie E. Davis all of Quicksburg, VA; son Matthew M. Davis grandpup Ben and grandcat Eddie of Richmond, VA; brother David G. Davis and his wife, Jane and their children of Spring Grove, PA; mother-in-law Suzanne Ross of Mt. Jackson, VA; brother-in-law Peter C. Ross of Edinburg, VA. He is also survived by Faith Davis Gilkey of Winchester, VA and Sharon S. Davis of Mt. Jackson, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Barbara A. Davis; and very recently, his much-loved canine companion, Hazel N. Davis.

At his request, there will be no public services.

A very heartfelt thank you is extended to Megan Davis for her help, comfort, and support in Ike's last days and to Sentara Hospice for their assistance, all-around, which was totally awesome.
