Steven James Kelly, 74, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Baptist Health – Lexington.
Steven was born on March 1, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, and was the son of Walter James Kelly and Nellie Mae (Evanoff) Kelly, both of whom preceded him in death. He owned and operated his own security company, Community Protection Services, and had served 12 years as a Madison County Constable, District 2. Steven was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the American Legion.
Survivors include: his wife of almost 48 years, Barbara (Greenwald) Kelly; two sisters-in-law, Romona (Greenwald) Alessi, and Linda (Greenwald) Jakubowicz. Eight Nieces and nephews; Anthony (Amy) Alessi, Brian (Amanda) Jakubowicz, Vicki (John) Ford, Debra Alessi, Gina (Mike) Alessi, Lee (Jacqueline) Jakubowicz, Michael Alessi, and Kevin (Erin) Jakubowicz. Eighteen great nieces and nephews; along with Steve Gregg and many other special friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife's parents, LeRoy Greenwald and Dolores (Fester) Greenwald.
Steven was known by many as a devout Christian and was always trying to make people laugh. Steven treated his relationship with God as God was his really father. He was truly a man of God and loved sharing God's word.
Visitation for Steven will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond, Kentucky.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 8:30 am until 10:00 am at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock. Mass to follow at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Avenue, Woodstock, IL. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Woodstock. A luncheon will follow for anyone who would like to attend.
