Char is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years and best friend, Joseph L. Curosh Jr. of Whiting; her 3 children, Joseph L. Curosh III (Dawn) of Crown Point, David J. Curosh (Michelle) of Chicago, and Dr. Lauren Jo Kahle (Seth) of Whiting; four grandchildren, Joseph L. Curosh IV, Chloe Curosh, Mila Kahle and William Kahle; her sister, Janeace Slifka (Robert) of West Hartford, CT; her sister-in-law, Dr. Judith Plawecki (late Henry Plawecki), of Zionsville, IN; and her 4 nephews, Scott Slifka (Noelle) of West Hartford, CT, Jonathan Slifka (Andrea) of West Hartford, CT, Dr. Martin Plawecki (Juli) of Zionsville, IN, and Lawrence Plawecki (Abby) of Zionsville, IN. Char was a lifelong resident of Whiting. She graduated from Bishop Noll Institute, Class of 1965. Char first taught 7th and 8th grade English at St. John the Baptist Catholic Grade School in Whiting for 8 years. She then left teaching for Motherhood and during the next 11 years welcomed into her family and raised her 3 children, Joey, Dave and Lauren. Char later returned to teaching as a Special Education Teacher at Nathan Hale Elementary School in Whiting. She was the first Special Education Teacher for the School City of Whiting, developed the Special Ed program and spent the next 25 years there. She was always all in for her students. Dear Joe and family

I was deeply saddened to hear of Charlene´s passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

Charlene was such a remarkable woman-a caring wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and an inspiring teacher. Her kindness and dedication touched so many lives, and I know her absence will be profoundly felt.

After 55 years of marriage, the bond you shared is a testament to the love and commitment you had for one another. I hope you find comfort in the beautiful memories you made together and the legacy she leaves behind.

Please know that you are in my thoughts during this difficult time. If there´s anything I can do to support you, don´t hesitate to reach out.

With deepest sympathy,
Diane Poulton

I worked with Mrs. Curosh for years. She was a caring and compassionate teacher who imparted wisdom onto everyone of the students. Her dedication to the children gave them an "I can" attitude! Thank you Charlene for all that you gave this community. You will not be forgotten in our hearts! In Jesus' name, Amen

Charlene's Grandmother was my Baptism Godmother so I have known her my entire life. She was a very compassionate and caring person and a great educator. She will be missed by Joe and her family and friends.

Best teacher I ever had. Mrs Curosh had more confidence in me than I did. She truly cared about people.
I´m very sorry for your loss.
