Nancy M. Hlebasko (nee Kornafel), 93, of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to the late Andrew Hlebasko who passed away April 1, 2010; loving mother of the late Diane (Joseph) Estep, Patti (Mark) Boudos, Susan Hlebasko, Michael (JoAnn) Hlebasko, Gregory (Tracie) Hlebasko; cherished grandmother of Amy Estep Slinker, Joseph (Stacie) Estep, Michael (Amber), Christopher (Lauren), and Jennifer Hlebasko, Andrew (Katie) and Nicholas (Jennifer) Hlebasko, Olivia (Troy, Jr.) Grady; adoring great grandmother of Anthony, Ava, Samantha, Lincoln, Alina, Logan, and Adelaide; dearest sister of Carole (late Thomas) Chambers and the late Lois "Mitzi" (late Gerald) Siadek; many dear nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, 2011 Clark St., Whiting, with the Rev. Andrew Summerson officiating; interment, St. Nicholas Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the Baran Funeral Home 1235 119th St., Whiting, on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m., to time of services. Nancy Hlebasko was born on January 6, 1932 in Chicago, IL, to Metro and Mary (Chilla) Kornafel and was a graduate of South Shore High School, Class of 1950. A longtime resident of Whiting, she was a member of St. Mary Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting, the Greek Catholic Union, the St. John Rosary Society (prayers Monday at 4:30 p.m.) and the former Whiting K of C Wives Club. She was a retiree of St. Margaret Hospital, Hammond, with a service of 24 years. She enjoyed singing, camping, bowling, golfing, and the occasional trip to the casino. Always active in the lives of her children and grandchildren, Nancy was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Accessibility to Beauty Campaign at St. Mary Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting, would be appreciated. (219) 659-4400.
