Dale Sorrell Obituary

Dale peacefully went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by his family in the early morning on Monday, September 29th.

He was born and raised in Potsdam, NY. Dale proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for 4 years during the Vietnam War and later with the Army National Guard, dedicating over 20 years of service before retiring.

Dale cherished music; he especially enjoyed playing guitar and banjo amongst friends. His easygoing nature and contagious smile lit up numerous rooms; he was a priceless friend to many. He thrived outdoors-caring for horses, riding motorcycles, tending gardens, restoring glory to vehicles, and living each day to the fullest. He never turned down a chance to live in the moment, to help a friend, or to travel near and far. Dale was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather (Popi) and loyal friend.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, JoAnn Sorrell; three sons Shawn Sorrell and wife Stephanie, Scott Sorrell, Oliver Sorrell and wife Hannah; two brothers Gene and Roger Sorrell; Nine grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and many other family members and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Jean, step-parents Madeline and John, his son Lee Oliver Sorrell, and his beloved brother Jack Sorrell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Dale's memory.
