G. Duncan Fraser
July 5, 1941 - July 12, 2025
G. Duncan Fraser, Jr., of Flat Rock, NC, a dedicated professional and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Born on July 5, 1941, in Omaha, NE, he lived a full and vibrant life, having recently celebrated his 84th birthday.
Duncan was a respected Certified Public Accountant who founded and operated Duncan Fraser & Associates where he provided invaluable financial expertise and guidance to his clients for over four decades. His personal approach and technical excellence earned him the admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Duncan was civic minded, community oriented and active in numerous philanthropic organizations. He was a lifelong member and mentor (a "Big") of the Big Brother Association. Duncan was a volunteer audiobook narrator at his local library. He was also active with The Park at Flat Rock and the Flat Rock Playhouse.
In addition to the accomplishments above, Duncan was a man of diverse interests and passions. He relished the freedom of flying N88PA and had made several cross-country flights often seeking routes he had not previously flown. On the sea, Duncan found joy on the waters around Key Biscayne fishing on his boat: CODA. As an avid sportsman, he enjoyed playing competitive tennis, recreational golf and even once drove a professional racecar.
His deep appreciation for the outdoors was further reflected in his love for hunting and travel. Duncan's affection for dogs was well known, and they were a constant presence in his life.
Duncan earned a Master's degree from the University of Nebraska. He was a voracious reader and a man of intellectual curiosity who relished time studying maps and solving puzzles. He was a lifelong learner, a value he instilled in those around him.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Duncan Fraser; his mother, Ann Flanagan Fraser; and his sister, Nancy Fraser Coffey.
He is survived by a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Eleanor H. Fraser; his sons, Charles D. Fraser of Plainfield, CT and F. Alexander Fraser of Mill Valley, CA; his beloved granddaughter, Campbell E. Fraser; and three grandsons, Leighton R. Fraser, Whitley A. Fraser and Graham A. Fraser. He is also survived by his cousin, Suedy F. Hruby and his "little brother," Dean Huh, who held a special place in his heart.
In honor of Duncan's life and legacy, memorial contributions may be made to the Flat Rock Playhouse, The Park at Flat Rock and The Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (Boston), reflecting his commitment to community and culture. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
