John Bradshaw Obituary

John Bradshaw passed so very peacefully with the love of his wonderful family at his lake home where he and wife Diane lived for 50 years. John grew up in the Eastmoreland neighborhood, attended Cleveland High School and graduated from University of Oregon. In 1964 he married Diane Langdon and left law school to work in sales for the family business. His father, Gene Bradshaw, had started the business in 1938 as a gas station and then auto repair specializing in transmission rebuilding. The business expanded to include an auto part store and eventually Portland Transmission Warehouse. John managed the company for over 55 years and now his son Ross is president. 42 years ago, John and right-hand man Al Stewart organized the first PTW Spring Classic auto show-it is still going strong! John was involved with numerous automotive associations over the years. His community involvement included Lakewood Center for the Arts, Salvation Army, Rotary and Lake Corp.
John enjoyed running with his labrador retrievers, doing marathons, and he organized many early Hood To Coast relay teams. Later he began golfing and with some persistence was able to secure a tee time to play the Old Course at St Andrews, Scotland! He enjoyed traveling with Diane to over 55 countries. He loved the classic cars in Cuba, wonderful African safaris and historic Normandy. Good memories!
He is survived by his wife Diane, married 61 years; his daughter Joell, and grandchildren Findley and Max; his son Ross (Dana), and his grandchildren Jack and Ike; and his brother Joel Bradshaw.
We invite friends to come tell stories of memories of John at Diane's grandparent's farm. Langdon Farms Golf Club. Oct 19, 2:00. If you would like to make a donation, consider Lakewood Center for the Arts. https://lakewood-center.org/.

I remember a lot of things about Johnny, having lots of fun as kids. Most of all I remember he made me the best Eggs Benedict breakfast I have ever had. You were the best uncle and I love you and your wonderful smile. I pray for God to comfort Diane and the whole Bradshaw family.

John was a handshake guy and he and I always got along. He always made it a point to not only say hello to me but ask me about me and my family. He will be missed. Such an integral part of the portland business community and a great father and family man! Prayers to the Bradshaw clan. Condolences to you all as well. Great knowing you John Bradshaw!

John was a great friend. We had some good times traveling together on business trips in the early 1970s, me as a young salesman fresh out of college and John as my wholesale customer and mentor calling on his retail accounts. He as the 32 year old sage teaching me the ways of the business world with his knowledge and keen wit. The twinkle in his eyes and his mischievous smile always kept one wondering what was coming next.
We did business together for 18 years.
Those were fun, memorable days.
We stayed friends over the years to include his and Diane´s incredible support during a very difficult time in my life.
John was a gentleman, a great business and community leader and wonderful family man. To know him was a blessing.
I will miss him.
