Norbert G. Bennetts, Sr.
Norbert G. Bennetts, Sr. passed away July 3, 2025 in Midland. He was born April 23, 1942 in Muskegon, the son of Ruth (Peterson) Bennetts and Jim Bennetts. Norb attended Muskegon schools and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1961. He married Marilyn Plank on June 28, 1963. She passed away in 2003. Norb then married Gail Wirtz on July 14, 2008.
Before moving to Midland, Norb was employed with Sunoco Gas in Muskegon for nine years. After moving to Midland in 1969, Norb was employed with Continental Can Company (later Sonoco Fiber Drums) for 23 years. He then went to work for Ace Hardware and worked for them for 14 years. He had been a volunteer fireman for Larkin Township for 21 years and had also worked for the East Ashman Church of God for 21 years. Norb enjoyed camping, travel, leathercrafts, working in the yard, and visiting with friends. He enjoyed doing repairs at his church, Floyd Church of God, as well as helping others.
In addition to his wife, Gail, he is survived by his son, Pastor Norbert (Wendy) Bennetts, Jr. of Bradenton, FL; daughters, Christina King of Midland, Debbie (Pastor Rob) Cope of Hilliard, OH, Tracy Musvaire of Crestview, FL, and Marcella (Richard) Ostrander of Holt, FL; stepson, Rob Wirtz of Cathedral City, CA; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren with one on the way. Norb is also survived by his brothers, Tom (Jeonne) Bennetts and Randy Bennetts; sister, Garlinda (John) Traxler; and sister-in-law, Beverly Bennetts-Jordan. In addition to his first wife Marilyn, he was preceded in death by his father, Jim Bennetts; mother, Ruth Bennetts; brother, Bob Bennetts; stepson, Todd (Karen) Wirtz; and sister-in-law, Pam Bennetts.
The family would like to give a special to everyone at Avielle Haven for their kindness and compassion.
Funeral services for Norb will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Floyd Church of God, 1015 West Chippewa River Road, with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating. His family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will take place in Midland Memorial Gardens.
