Rosebud Merrit Obituary

Mother Rosebud Sneed Wilson Merritt was born in Monticello, Florida, to John Roosevelt Sneed and Gertrude Thompson. She received her education in the Monticello School District. She was first united in holy matrimony with Mr. David Wilson, and they remained together until his passing.
In 1977, she entered holy matrimony with Robert Merritt, and they remained united in love and faith until his passing in 2001.
Mother Merritt was a devoted member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Emeritus Elder Johnny Shaw. She served faithfully as one of the church mothers, sang with the Women's Choir, and taught Sunday School, touching many lives with her quiet strength and steadfast faith. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, taking pride in the beauty she created around her. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune and Western shows, and one of her favorite songs was "Amazing Grace."
In addition to her parents, Mother Merritt was preceded in eternal rest by her husbands, Robert Merritt and David Wilson; her son, Silas Wilson; her niece, Patricia Hughes; and three brothers, John D. Sneed, John Lewis Sneed, and Charles Cooper.
She leaves to cherish her memories: loving and devoted daughter, Lucille Butler; sister, Mayetta (George) Kirkland; grandchildren, Reginald Johnson, David Butler, Margaret (JP) Arango, Omari Wilson, and Nakethia Thrower; nephews, Willie "Will" Brown, James (Alfreda) Williams Jr., Charles E. Hughes, and Marshall (Brenda) Williams; 6 greatgrandchildren; along with a host of extended family and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, the Reverend Travis Reynolds, Pastor and Eulogist.
The viewing will be held one hour prior to the Homegoing Celebration. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens.
