Larry Curtis Obituary

Larry Curtis

November 30, 1944 - July 10, 2025

Larry Joe Curtis, 80, of Peotone, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born November 30, 1944, in Bloomington, the son of John Wilbur and Beulah Sparks Curtis. He was a twin, and he always said he pushed his brother, Lynn, out of the way because he was in a hurry to begin life. Larry married Brenda Kay Denton. She preceded him in death. They had one son, Brad. Larry remarried and had three children Brett, Shauna, and Wyatt. September 14, 1997, he married Connie Sprau March and expanded his family with two step-children, Brenda and Ben.

Larry was a lifelong car person. His car life included being an owner, manager, and salesman. It didn't matter to him what capacity he was in. He just loved being around people and helping them find cars that were perfect for them. He made a positive impact on the people he worked with as well as on his customers' lives. He's remembered for frequently saying, "Something good is going to happen to you today!"

Larry served in the Illinois National Guard from 1963 - 1967. He was an avid lifelong Cubs fan, and he was overjoyed when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. He coached Legion ball and soccer when his children were young. He loved caring for the lawn and was known for having one of the nicest lawns in the neighborhood. He served in various capacities at the churches he attended over his lifetime.

Larry loved his family and spending time with them. Surviving are his wife, Connie March-Curtis (Peotone); sons, Brad Curtis (Bloomington), Brett Curtis (Hawaii), and Wyatt Curtis (Erin Mizer) (Normal); daughter, Shauna Curtis (Bloomington); grandchildren, Savannah, Brielle, Trey, Kai, Miyana, Makynlee, and Adriana. Also surviving are stepchildren, Ben March (Michelle) (Bourbonnais) and Brenda (Dean) Haeffner (Glen Ellyn); step-grandchildren, Katharine, Jackson, Emma, Bianca, Ashton, Henry (Mayte), Clara, Collin and Kaedon; as well as his twin brother, Lynn (Deborah) Curtis (Sycamore); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Karen Bryan, Butch Sprau, Kevin (Pam) Sprau, Tena Sprau and Don Mason. Numerous nieces and nephews survive.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Curtis; his sisters, Wyonna Forrest, Norma Mason, and Marcia Long; brothers-in-law, Don Forrest and Jim Long; sisters-in-law, Carol Curtis and Shirley Sprau; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Curtis; and grandson, Andy Dever-Curtis.

A special Thank You goes out to our amazing caregivers, Aimee Blair and Shawn Love.
