Linda Feeney Obituary

Linda Feeney

July 20, 1942 - July 5, 2025

Linda Feeney, aged 82, of El Paso, passed away at 9:50 PM on Saturday, July 5, 2025 surrounded by her family at OSF St. Joseph Hospital.

She was born Linda Lou Harshbarger to the late George and Evelyn Harshbarger on July 20, 1942, in Watseka, Illinois. She had two siblings who preceded her in death, Carolyn (Frank) Rarrick and Larry (Carol) Harshbarger.

She married her high school sweetheart, Chuck Feeney on March 17, 1963, he survives. Together they raised five children: Chuck (Amy) Feeney, Becki (Mike) Salmon, Greg (Jeff) Feeney, Kristi (DJ) Stone and David (Laurel) Feeney. She had twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one foreign exchange student, Ricardo (Liliana) Montoya.

Linda was a 1960 graduate of El Paso High School. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University where she studied music. She was the office manager at Feeney Oil Company and an avid Sunday School teacher and youth group leader.

Before her health issues, she was known for singing with her trusty accompanist Kay Burroughs. They sang at most of the weddings and funerals in El Paso. The saying around town was "Linda and Kay marry them and bury them."

Linda liked the Ozarks, traveling and a good glass of wine. Most of all, she loved her family and God. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Linda's honor may be given to The Salvation Army or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Visitation will be held at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso on Sunday, July 13, 2025 between the hours of 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Services will be held at El Paso United Methodist Church on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso, IL.
