Mary Bottorff Obituary

Mary Louise Bottorff (Amarok), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and respected Kenaitze Elder, passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2025. She was born on July 7, 1940, in Solomon, Alaska, where her roots and traditions shaped the strong Alaskan woman she became.

Also An avid bingo player.

Mary Lou was the proud mother of three sons: Phillip Harmon, Micheal Harmon, and Lenny Grothe. Grandchildren, Nicole Harmon, Garrett and Cameron Grothe, Randi and Casey Harmon. Her love for family extended beyond her children to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.

As a Kenaitze Elder, Mary Lou carried the wisdom, history, and traditions of her people, smoking salmon and sharing them generously with her family and community. She was a guiding light, a keeper of stories, and a source of strength and comfort to all. And always wanted to know where her fish was!

Her wishes were no service and her ashes be scattered in all the bingo halls she ever played. Just kidding.

Her ashes will be scattered in the Nome area.

Mary Lou was a wonderful person. She was a very kind and happy woman who taught many people the old ways. She made the best salmon candy.
