Christine Danner Obituary

CHRISTINE ELIZABETH (BIHL) DANNER, 84, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in 1941 in Portsmouth, Ohio, and raised on the Bihl family farm in Wheelersburg, Ohio, Christine was a woman of incredible strength, dedication, and warmth.
She graduated from Wheelersburg High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, and married her childhood sweetheart, John Danner. Together, they built a life in Portsmouth. As a nurse, Christine was known for her compassionate care and tireless work ethic. Her nursing career spanned nearly 50 years at Mercy Hospital and Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
Her family was always at the center of Christine's world. She was a devoted daughter, wife,
mother, sister, and grandmother. Christine's love for her children and grandchildren was boundless. Whether it was making countless trips between Portsmouth and Cincinnati to visit her grandkids, hosting family events, or simply sharing a fun impromptu moment, she made sure that family came first. Her warmth, laughter, and zest for life touched everyone she met. She was always on the move, ready for the next adventure.
She is survived by her husband John Danner; children Kim (Chris) Koenig, John Danner Jr., and Amy (Frank Melendez) Danner; grandchildren Caroline (Steve), Margot, Jed, Josefina, Gabriela, sisters Katherine Holbrook, Donna (Tim) Conley, brother-in-law Larry Burgess, and many other family members and friends who were fortunate to know her.
She is preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Anne Bihl (Stockner), father Raymond Joseph Bihl, stepmother Thelma Bihl (Bolton), sister Linda Burgess, and brother-in-law Roger Holbrook.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter in Chains Catholic
Church, 2167 Lick Run-Lyra Rd., Wheelersburg, OH 45694, followed by a Catholic funeral mass at
1 p.m. A private burial will be held after the mass. Friends and loved ones are invited to attend a reception at St. Peter's following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
to Alzheimer's Association (https://alzfdn.org/donate/).
Christine lived her life with love, laughter, and an unshakable energy. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

So sorry for your loss. When I had Mr. Danger in high school , he often spoke lovingly of his Christine. May God bless you and yours because from my experience- moms are the glue that keeps the family together.

My condolences to this entire beautiful Danner family, as well as extended family. I went to school with sweet Kim, and I totally agree with everything written in this obituary. She was warm, caring, funny, beautiful inside and out, qualities which made her a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, nurse and "mother" to us teenage girls. We always knew we were welcome at their house. And I always said Martha Stewart had nothing on Christine´s peanut butter cookies...to this day, my favorites! May the family be comforted knowing how many people she touched and loved her, that she lived a joyous and meaningful life and that she is in heaven now and free from any ailments. May God comfort you all during this difficult time.
