Gina Acee Obituary

Gina L. Acee

August 20, 1955 - December 31, 2024

Gina Lynn Acee, 69, of Sherburne, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 20, 1955 in Cambridge, N.Y. Upon graduation from high school at Greenwich Central School, she attended SUNY Adirondack where she received her Associate's degree in Registered Nursing. Following graduation from nursing school, she embarked on her career in nursing, moving to the Sherburne area in 1977. Gina was employed at Sherburne-Earlville Central School District as an RN for 15 years and UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich for 28 years, until retiring in August 2020. Gina was a communicant of St. Malachy's Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.

Gina took great pride in her beloved children and grandchildren and her favorite times were spent with her family. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and kayaking. Gina was one of nine children, born to Gordon and Marion Petteys of Greenwich, N.Y. She leaves behind two beautiful daughters and wonderful sons-in-law, Drs. Alecia (Kris) VanWagner of Potsdam, Emily Acee (Colby Chrisbacher) of Sherburne; and her FAVORITE son, Jeffrey Acee of Sherburne; and her cherished grandchildren who lit up her world: Julia, Ian, Lydia and Luke VanWagner, Nasick, Davis and Thea Chrisbacher. In addition, Gina leaves behind her dear sweet sister, Tracy McEachron and her wonderful husband, Don of Salem, N.Y.; brothers, G. James (Karen) Petteys of Roy, Utah, Stephen (Bridget) Petteys of Greenwich, N.Y.; brothers-in-law, Paul Stewart and John Walsh, both of Greenwich, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Kathy Kelleher of Cambridge, N.Y., Sue Petteys of Little River, S.C., Tish (Tom) Acee, of Syracuse, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and her friend, Jack Williams of Sherburne. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Barbara Jean Petteys, Karen (Clifford) Wright, Cheryl Walsh and Michele Stewart all of Greenwich; and brother, Richard Petteys of Little River, S.C.

Being surrounded by family and friends was important to Gina. She leaves behind so many extraordinary friends and family members including her special nieces, Amber and Carla. Gina wanted to share her gratitude for all the love and support everyone has given her throughout this life and journey.
