Patricia A. Pickett
February 3, 1940 - May 13, 2025
HUDSON FALLS – Patricia A. Pickett 85, formerly of Hudson Falls, NY left her earthly body and went to be with her son Keith and husband Gary on May 13, 2025 at The Fort Hudson Health Center.
Pat was comforted during her final days by the company of her daughter, Kathy; her beloved cousin, Mary Ann Starbuck; and best friend of 50+ years, Betty Padgett at her bedside.
Born in Glens Falls, NY on February 3, 1940, Pat was the oldest child of seven to Hilda and Gerard Flynn. At the age of 14, Pat moved to Hudson Falls to live with her beloved Aunt and Uncle, Sallie and George Brooks. Pat graduated from Hudson Falls in 1958.
Throughout high school Pat worked with her Aunt Sue in their restaurant "The El- Ro-Do". On July 16, 1960 she married her High School sweetheart, Gary Pickett. After her two children started school, Pat worked as a bookkeeper and payroll specialist until she retired. In 2001, Pat and Gary became "Snowbirds" and enjoyed 13 winters in Port Orange, FL. In 2013, they moved to Florida year-round until Gary's passing in 2017, when she returned to NY to live near her daughter and family.
Pat is predeceased by her parents, Hilda and Gerard Flynn; two siblings, Jerry and Mary Flynn; son, Keith; daughter in-law, Annie; husband, Gary; her in-laws, Robert and Gertrude Pickett; and her sister in-law, Joan Hanley.
Pat is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy (David) Cerny; her grandchildren, Cory Pickett, Jesse Pickett, Brooke Cerny and her honorary granddaughter, Lianna Rivette. Pat is also survived by her brothers, Mike (Jean) and George (Marcie) Flynn; her sisters, Carolyn (Courtenay) Hall and Elizabeth Flynn; her beloved cousins, Mary Ann Starbuck, Sallie (John) Kleinholz; and best friend for more than 50 years, Betty Padgett, all of whom she also saw as sisters. Pat's surviving in-laws include George (Charlene) Pickett, David (Linda) Pickett, Gloria Pratt, and Thomas (Barbara) Hanley. Pat is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pat also leaves behind her very special niece and nephew who grew up across the street and were loved like her own children, Jodi (John) Roberts and Michael Hanley.
Pat enjoyed attending classic car shows with Gary in his 56 Ford, reading, singing off key, family gatherings, and cuddling with her faithful Maltese companion, Gizmo. During Gary's lengthy struggle with COPD, Pat worked tirelessly to care for him, and did so with compassion, patience and a sense of humor.
Pat was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren. She and Gary usually had at least one of them most weekends as they grew up. They attended concerts, swim meets, soccer, baseball and softball games whenever possible. But most importantly Pat was a source of unconditional love, support and strength for her children and grandchildren as they navigated the painful realities of Annie's sudden death due to a drunk driver, and then losing Keith only seven years later due to colon cancer. Her compassion, strength, determination, and quick wit will not be forgotten.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fort Hudson for the wonderful care that they provided Pat during her two years residing there.
Friends are invited to call from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
