Wayne Duerr Obituary
A lifelong resident of St. Michael, Wayne graduated from St. Thomas University and proudly served in the U.S. Army. An avid reader, he was a citizen of the world, staying informed and always ready to share his thoughts.
Wayne loved to travel and explore with his brother, Warren. He found joy in gardening, filling tables with homegrown vegetables and brightening his surroundings with vibrant flowers. Wayne passed down a love of kohlrabi to his nieces and nephews and delighted his family whenever he craved homemade pretzels, knowing it would bring them together to bake. His weekly crossword puzzle sessions with extended family over the phone were a cherished tradition. Wayne enjoyed playing cards with friends and taking trips to the casino. His famous potato salad will be greatly missed at family gatherings.
A man of quiet service, Wayne helped others without seeking recognition. His gentle chuckle and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Wayne is survived by his sister and close friend, Marti (Curt) Hanson; his beloved nieces and nephew, Tammy (Danny) Hobgood, Terry (Susan) Sipe, Myounghee (Rich) Hanson, and Stacey (Byung) Ko; seven great-nieces and nephews; six great-great-nieces and nephews; and countless other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial held Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Brian Park as the Celebrant. Entombment with military honors at St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation held one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday.
The Peterson Chapel, St. Michael/Albertville Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements. On-line condolences can be made at www.thepetersonchapel.com.
