Lawrence "Larry" Thomas Jr.
December 11, 1936 - July 13, 2025
In Loving Memory of Lawrence 'Larry' Thomas, Jr. December 11, 1936 – July 13, 2025- Lawrence Thomas, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the evening of July 13, 2025, at the age of 88. His was a life marked by quiet strength, deep devotion to family, and a work ethic rooted in honor and pride. Born on December 11, 1936, in Atlantic City, N.J., Larry shared an extraordinary bond with his beloved wife, Margaret-born on the very same day, same year and in the same hospital. Though their paths first crossed at birth, it was during their high school years that fate brought them together again, and they never looked back. Their marriage spanned an incredible 71 years, a rare and beautiful testament to enduring love and partnership. Larry served in the United States Naval Reserve, enlisting at just 17. He proudly completed boot camp, ready to serve his country if called, though he was never activated. His sense of patriotism, duty and integrity would go on to define the rest of his life. A skilled and respected tradesman, Larry was a longtime partner in United Heating and Sheet Metal, where he built a reputation for honesty and craftsmanship. Later, he found his true calling as a boat captain, navigating the waters with confidence and peace-a role that perfectly suited his steady hand and love of the sea. Larry was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his children: Lawrence Thomas III (Monica), Janice Jurewicz (James), and Raymond Thomas (Lisa); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Each of them carries forward his legacy of kindness, resilience, and unconditional love. Those who knew Larry will remember his gentle demeanor, his deep well of patience, and the way his eyes lit up when surrounded by family. His was a life well lived and well loved. He was known for his sense of humor and appreciated a good joke. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The family asks that you honor his memory by spending time with those you love-something Larry valued above all else.
