Paul Marrandino Obituary

On Friday, July 4th, Paul Marrandino, 84, of Absecon, NJ, passed away at home with his wife, Gail, by his side. Dino was born on November 18,1940 in Atlantic City to Mary Rose Karch and Angelo (Angie) Marrandino. He grew up in the Ducktown section of Pitney Village where he and a group of neighborhood kids formed close, lifelong friendships, and he went on to graduate from Holy Spirit High School in 1958. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving four years, attended Rider University and graduated with a degree in Business. He was a proud member of Theta Chi Fraternity, developing more close bonds with his fraternity brothers, fellow servicemen and student peers. He began his career working for American Express, but as his greatest strength lay in his ability to build connections and foster relationships, he found that his true calling was in hotel sales. He worked over 30 years in the casino industry in his beloved Atlantic City, including Ballys, Harrahs, Trump Plaza, The Taj Mahal, and The Borgata. A proud Marine, he was also deeply committed to public service - in the early 90s, he became integrally involved in the formation of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, an organization that raises scholarship money for families of fallen soldiers. Dino was a man of connection. He had this amazing ability to make everyone he met feel like the most important, special person in the room, and once you became his friend, you were his friend for life. He brought people together; he was always generous and he derived immense joy from helping others. More than anything, he was genuine. He lived for his beloved wife and devoted son, the two greatest loves of his life. He truly enjoyed the game of basketball, playing well into his 60s, and sharing his love of Cincinnati Reds baseball with his son. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Don in 2019. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail; their son, Paul (Rachel); his sister, Rosemary (Eugene); his sister, Patricia, and his sister-in-law, Patricia.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 9th at Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave in Absecon starting at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery In Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers we ask those who wish to contribute to donate to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation (https://www.mc-lef.org/). Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.

Just noticed the obit of one of the really good guys from back in the day. RIP, dear old friend Dino. I'll remember the great times at Rider and, of course, hoisting a few cold ones at George's Hometown Tavern. Condolences to Gail and family.

Dear Gail & Pauli´s,
Please accept our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences on the loss of your one-of-a-kind, Paul. Met him late in my life, but he was a man that was truly giving in so many ways; he was a mentor to so many young men, an Ambassador of Kindness & a true Marine! He knew how to share common sense
e & laughter at the best of times. Like a carpenter,
he always knew when to "measure twice, cut once"!
I will miss him but always remember all he has done for so many and for so long! God Bless his kind soul!

Dear Gail and Paul,
I am so deeply sorry that Paul passed away. I remember when my hubby passed away, Paul was one of the first people to stand up and salute Jansen's ashes. You'll all have very fond memories of your sweetie pie, I am certain. I'll keep all of you in my prayers. Nancy

I will truly miss u my dear friend. Going to Saratoga was something we loved. At that time u couldn´t see past 9 to 5. Things changed not so long after . fI tortured u about that and when u took out that little piece of paper I was astonished. U said it was your new betting mantra" WHEN IN DOUBT BET THE SIX HORSE." Oh "Drivino" we had a lot of great times together. As I write this tears are in my eyes. I love u man. May u rest in please and save a spot at the $100 window in Heaven for Turffy as u affectionately called. RIP MY FRIEND.

Gail~
My heart feels heavy for you even though I know how strong you are please don´t hesitate to reach out for anything! I was always grateful for the evenings you had us over and Paul did the cooking- he is an amazing chef- and so hospitable just like you! I always enjoyed the dinners at your house and observing the love between you two It was also always so sweet when we would be on the phone and he would chime in to make sure we got our facts straight or to offer us advice! I have been thinking of you and hope you feel my good energies I send your way! When your heart starts to ache with the loss of Paul please do your best to reframe your thinking to reflecting on how lucky you two were to have 53 years together and smile at the good times, the specific memories you will always have! I have to work Wednesday but I am going to see if I can go in late.
