Samuel Johnson Obituary
Samuel L. Johnson Jr.,
a devoted husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on June 11, 2025, peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after courageously battling a long term illness.
Sam was born in Somers Point, NJ, and grew up in Ocean City, NJ. He attended Ocean City Public Schools and graduated from Ocean City High School Class of 1968. Sam enjoyed Surfing, fishing and taking the family boat out in the bay. He loved muscle cars including his 1964 and 1/2 Mustang and 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge.
Sam enlisted in the US Army and served seven years in the Storck US Army Reserve in Northfield, NJ.
He served as an EMT in Ocean City and Upper Township.
Sam started his 47 year career as an Electrician working with his Dad, until forming S Johnson Electrical Contractor Inc in Beesley's Point until his retirement in 2012.
Sam served as Treasurer of the New Jersey Electrical Group for many years.
Sam will be remembered as a man of honesty, integrity and helping those in need.
He enjoyed the home that he and "His Girl" Judi created and spending time together working his garden, relaxing by the pool and cooking great meals!
Sam is predeceased by his parents, Samuel Sr. and Sylvia (nee Harre) Johnson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, partner and best friend, Judi (nee Mufferi) of 28 years; brother, Don (Kathy); sister-in-law, Joy (Vic); nephews, Brett (Kristen), Erik (Lauren), Victor; niece, Katie (Neal); great nieces, Elizabeth, Sarah; great nephew, Alexander and many cousins.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 18th, at 10 a.m., at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ, with a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed to further research for LBD by mail to: Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

I have a photo of me, sam and Jimmy Hendrix standing beers in hand in uniform at an Ocean City Rescue Squad event circa 1969. Sam was a good friend back in those times and a great guy to go on ambulance runs with. I am glad he had a full, successful and happy life and glad he was a part of mine.
