Edith Fern Peden, 84, of Alpha, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. Visitation will be Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. The funeral service will directly follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Alpha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to the Alzheimer's Association or to Cat N Around Rescue. Edith was born on June 17, 1941 in Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of Vern and Mary Abbott Wiren. She married Donald Peden on September 2, 1967, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were married for 51 years before his passing on March 17, 2019.

Edith worked as a housekeeper and was also the local Avon Lady for many years.

Edith was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. If you came into Edith's life, she would show how much caring and love she had to give.

She is survived by three children, Kimberly (Dennis) Gillette of Galesburg, Todd Peden of Alpha, Debra (Terry) Weber of Boone, Iowa; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Etha Briggs and Ethel Irving.
