Larry L. Goldsberry
October 18, 1944-February 19, 2023
LECLAIRE-Larry L. Goldsberry, 78, of LeClaire passed away at Genesis East on Sunday, February 19, 2023 leaving a hole in the hearts of his family and friends. He was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on October 18, 1944 to Robert Claire and Sylvia Mae (Collins) Goldsberry. Growing up in Ottumwa he excelled in sports paying both football and basketball in school, loving the games, especially football, go Iowa, go Minnesota Vikings. With school now in the past he headed north to the land of Alcoa. For 30 plus years, he gave his blood, sweat and tears to the place, primarily in the Plate Mill. As luck would have it for the union rank and file he served as their committeeman; duly elected multiple times, taking care of HIS people, going up against the company with satisfying results.
Serving on jury duty one day he met a girl and Larry being a "little country and her being a "little rock and roll," Sharon Stiles and he would go on and say, "I do." He and Sharon built a life together in LeClaire: enjoying their deck, grilling out, entertaining family and friends and the occasional bonfire. Numerous trips to Key West, FL, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Mexico and Jamaica were made. Fall picnics at Scott County Park, dining along the river at "Go Fish" in Princeton and "Sneaky Pete's" in LeClaire where everybody knew your name were fun and special places. Family gatherings were fun and sometimes boisterous with holidays being the best when all were together.
Larry will be loved, missed and remembered always by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Tammy Gomez (Bob Shepherd) of LeClaire; son, Troy Goldsberry (Amy) of Bettendorf; son-in-law, Matt Terronez of East Moline and four grandsons, Herchel Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Jezmel Gomez and Tyler Goldsberry.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Terronez, two grandsons, his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A Celebration of His Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 14, 2023 at Weerts Funeral home, Davenport. He will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
