THORNTON,Artie, Cill Rónain, Inis Mór, Aran Islands and Rockmount Road, Highfield Park, Galway. (7th March 2025) We, Artie's family, would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who sympathised and supported us on the sudden passing of our beloved Artie. Each kind word, remembrance, Mass card, letter and condolence on
RIP.ie brought us great comfort and have helped carry us through this most difficult time. A special thanks to all of Artie's friends who attended Artie's repose. It was so beautifully bittersweet to hear so many fond memories of Artie throughout the years, especially from his student days which he loved so much. To the emergency services who showed such professionalism and commitment in coming to Artie's assistance, we cannot thank you enough. The kindness and compassion you showed was something we shall never forget. Many thanks to Fr Michael McLoughlin who called to our home on the night of Artie's passing, to Fr Daniel Gallagher for the prayers at the reposing and to an tAthair Máirtín Ó Conaire who celebrated the beautiful funeral mass for Artie, and to Fiona for the beautiful music and singing at the Mass. We would like to give heartfelt thanks to the management and crew of Aran Island Ferries, the entire community of Aran who helped us in the funeral arrangements and burial at Killeany Cemetery. It is said that it takes a village to raise a child, and more so following a death, as this was never truer in the days following Artie's passing. To the countless family, neighbours and friends who carried out so many tasks for us, most with an invisible hand, heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. Artie's passing has left a terrible sadness to us all but please know that the kindness shown to us has greatly helped ease this pain. While this short note cannot begin to demonstrate our appreciation to everyone, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our sincere gratitude to all. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions. Artie's Month's Mind Mass Will be celebrated at Séipeal N. Bríd agus N. Oilibhéir, Cill Rónáin on Monday April 21st at 12pm
