GREENVILLE - Verna C. Bright, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
A celebration of life will be held 3:00pm Tuesday at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 2:00pm, prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Bright, a resident of Greenville, retired from Burroughs Wellcome and was a member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church. She had a quiet way of serving God and loving her family. Her favorite pastimes were reading her cookbooks and mystery novels, playing cards with her friends, shopping and volunteering with The Salvation Army. She will be remembered for her warmth, her selflessness, and the profound love she shared with all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ernest and Nora Lee Crisp; brothers, Enoch Crisp, Charlie Crisp, and Mack Crisp; and husband, Charles Bright.
Verna is survived by her children, Pam Smith (Andy) of Mebane, NC, Sonya Hammons (Jon) of Greenville, NC, and Charlene Bright, of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Justin Moore of Durham, NC, J.R. Smith, of Jefferson, GA, Austin Smith, of Mebane, NC, and Shelby and NoraJoy Hammons, of Greenville, NC; great grandchild, Zander Smith, of Jefferson GA; siblings, Clarissa Le Ashland, of Carmel, CA, Marlene Stephens, of Ocala, FL, and Anne Humphrey, of Greenville, NC.; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Crisp, of Jamesville, NC
