RUTLAND — Raymond R. Combs, 90, of Rutland, a life that touched many and who will be deeply missed, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 10, 2025, peasefully at home.
Raymond was born Nov. 22, 1934, at Gratis, to the late Otto Combs and Chelcie Mae Carpenter-Gabbard-Combs. He was a millwright by trade, attended Rutland Baptist Church, served 30 years as a Gratis volunteer fireman, seven years as a police officer of Gratis, a member of Eagles, Redman Lodge, and NRA.
Raymond is survived by children Chelcie Combs-Stearns, Charles Stearns of Rutland, Otto Combs of Clay City, Kentucky, Douglas B. Combs of Gratis, Byrna R. Combs and Sandy of Wichita, Kansas, Miles Samuel Combs and Sandy of Camden, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by wife Joy E. Dorsey-Combs, son Russell B. Combs, parents Otto and Chelcie Combs, five brothers and sisters-in-law, four sisters and brothers-in-law and grandson Neil Combs.
There is to be graveside services Saturday, June 7, at 11 a.m., at Fairview Cemetery, Gratis, with Otto Combs officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society.
