Wendy Orsini Obituary

Wendy L. Orsini
07/06/2025
WATERTOWN - Wendy Louise (DeVoe) Orsini, age 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6th, 2025 in the comfort of her daughter's home in Watertown, surrounded by love.
Wendy was born on December 17th, 1951, in Waterbury, CT daughter to the late William and Elizabeth (DeZinno) DeVoe. After high school, Wendy was accepted into a Catholic College. At that same time her sister was already attending college. Wendy hid the letter not to burden her parents. Instead, Wendy trained at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital to become a Lab Technician. Eventually she became a highly skilled phlebotomist. As she would say, "I have eyes in my fingers". Wendy was put on call to draw the
toughest cases when no others could. She also pipetted by mouth in those days. Phlebotomy was not
only her craft but her passion. Wendy had vascular dementia with Lewey Bodies for many years. While it robbed her of caring for herself, along with most of her memories, she did gain a gentleness and a sense of peace that depression kept from her most her life. Wendy's strong will gave her the ability to send signs her brain didn't allow her too verbally express. These messages defied both time and logic.
Her fondest childhood memories were made spending summers in Canada with her French-Canadian
relatives. She treasured those times spent with her big sister, grandparents and a special cousin
Maurice. Wendy had the most beautiful penmanship. Her punctuation and spelling were second to none thanks to her strict Catholic School days. Anyone who knew Wendy, knew she loved her coffee, as she called it "my fuel". She loved all her kitties and little critters. Wendy enjoyed cooking and Sunday dinners. She gave up drinking to help care for her twin granddaughters until kindergarten. Wendy shared a special bond with her son Joey, both being middle children. Wendy lived a dutiful life in hopes to gain the unconditional love she longed for. She achieved that love the last three years of her life. May she continue in her journey to everlasting love with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories, Wendy leaves her daughter, Deanna (Pete) Karas, her two sons, Joseph Jr and William, both, of Thomaston; her sister, Laura (Bruce) Hoyt of Torrington, and her brother-in-law, George Watterworth of Palmview, Texas. She also leaves her five grandchildren, Jesse (Jordyn) Karas of Oakville, Billy (Shelby) Karas of Watertown, Mia, Ava, and Camden Orsini, all of Thomaston and her great-grandson Benjamin Cole Karas of Watertown whom she had the good fortune and pleasure to live with and her only cousin, Gary (Kim) DeVoe of Bethlehem. In addition, she leaves her chosen family and lifelong friends, Tom and Amy Guglielmi of Oakville, Pam Robert's of Wolcott and Dodie Formeister of Plantsville. Wendy was predeceased by her older sister, Michele "Mickey" Watterworth.
Funeral services for Mrs. Orsini will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Casey- O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, Oakville, Ct 06779, has been honored to care for Wendy and the Orsini family.
