Betty Deavers Obituary

Betty Brown Greathead Deavers, 87, of Timberville, died July 9, 2025 at her home. She was born September 22, 1937 in Cumberland, MD and was a daughter to the late Charles Washington and Marjorie Blanche George Brown. Betty was a registered medical secretary for Dr. Harry Crawford. She loved cats and was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan. She married her first husband, Robert "Bob" Newton Greathead, III on June 2, 1962 and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1978. In April of 1995, she married her second husband, Harry Neff Deavers, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter; Jane Campbell, of Timberville, two sons; Robert N. Greathead, IV and wife Liane, of Harrisonburg, Christopher A. Greathead and wife Gloria, of Fulks Run, nine grandchildren; John Edward Campbell, III, Andrew Taylor Campbell and wife Megan, Charlene Jeffers, Jolie Greathead, Connor Ryan Cleaver, Joey Matthew Cleaver, Christopher Greathead, Jr., Joshua Alexander Greathead, Nora Ileen Greathead, and four great grandchildren; Anna Mae Campbell, Jack, Jase and Abby Jeffers. Pastor Victor Norris will conduct a memorial service 2:00 PM Sunday, July 20th at Mt. Olivet Church of the Brethren in Timberville. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. Her body will be cremated and interred privately at Linville Creek Cemetery in Broadway. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
