Esther McDaniel Obituary

Esther Hensley McDaniel, 96, of Elkton, Virginia, passed away July 11, 2025, at Journeys Crossing. Mrs. McDaniel was born March 15, 1929, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Jesse G. and Katherine Shaw Hensley.
On September 9, 1949, she married Leonard J. McDaniel who preceded her in death on August 16, 2013. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lucius Hensley, John Hensley, and two sisters, Edith Anderson and Edwina Jenkins.
Esther, along with her husband, resided in Vienna for many years where they operated L. J. McDaniel Heating and Plumbing. They retired to a farm in Hanover County and later Harrisonburg. Esther and Leonard were lifelong members of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a. m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Grove Hill Cemetery, in Shenandoah with Pastor Ellen Hensley Martin officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grove Hill Chapel GMC, PO Box 61, Shenandoah, VA 22849.
