Beverly Vassallo Obituary
Beverly Jean Vassallo
September 18, 1929 - July 7, 2025
Fair Oaks, California - Our loving Beverly Jean (Snow Shermer) Vassallo of Fair Oaks, California died on July 7, 2025, in the comfort of her own home.
Born September 18, 1929, to Jack and Thursa Snow in Santa Ana, California, then moved to Sacramento, California where she attended C.K. McClatchy High School.
Beverly married Donald Shermer and had a daughter, Linda. When she and Donald divorced Beverly worked as a single mother devoted to her daughter while working at an elementary school.
In 1954 she met and married Air Force 2nd Lieutenant Anthony Michael Vassallo a.k.a. Tony. They had four children: Richard, Sandra, Terri, and Nancy. Along with Linda they became a complete family.
Beverly's kindness and grace was reflected in her ability to raise kind and responsible children despite challenges of relocating to various Midwest airbases 4 times throughout Tony's Air Force career.
Bev made sure every birthday was unforgettable, and every Christmas was magical. She spent countless hours at her sewing machine, making sure that every daughter had a new hand sewn outfit every year (Richard had to settle for store bought).
As the children grew Beverly studied accounting at Merced College and later worked as an accountant for the State Department for several years.
She thoroughly enjoyed the cherished visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In 2022 she suffered a debilitating stroke, but maintained her wit and spunk continuing to elicit smiles and laughs from her family. Tony took on the caretaker role and tended to her every need, night and day until her death.
Beverly was a most exceptional and beloved woman and mother whose inner radiance was matched only by her outer beauty. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone.
She is survived by her husband Anthony Michael Vassallo. Children: Linda Shermer Sanford O'Day, Richard (Colleen) Vassallo, Sandra (William) Sponable, Terri (Robert) Bardini, Nancy Vassallo (Todd White).
She also leaves behind grandchildren: Nolan and Bryan Sanford; John, Patrick, Katherine and Caroline Vassallo; Anthony Jay and Sydney Sponable; Diane (Robert) Hart Butler Allshouse, Vincent Bardini (Amber); Dominic White and great-grandchildren: Haley (Sanford) Block (Kreeana); Sofia Sanford; Jonathan Tyler Hart; Jordan Hart; Damon Butler; Tripp Allshouse and great-great grandchild Karter Block.
A closed casket visitation followed by a graveside burial will be held July 26, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery and Funeral home, 7100 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights, California 95621.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a contribution to a deserving charity.
