Van Thompson Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Van Hale Thompson, who left this world unexpectedly on July 3, 2025, at the age of 54, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on July 2, 2025.

Van was born on October 1, 1970, to Thomas Thompson (deceased) and Sybilla (Thompson) Miller. From an early age, Van displayed a kind heart, an insatiable curiosity, and a fearless spirit. He was a daredevil by nature, always ready to try something new, often just for the thrill of it.

He is survived by his beloved son, Daniel (Isabelle) Thompson of Grass Valley, and his cherished grandchildren, Daniel Jr. and Saige. He also leaves behind his mother, Sybilla (Roger) Miller of Fair Oaks, CA; and his siblings: Tammy Thompson and Michele Thompson of Texas, Tim (Toni) Thompson of Oregon, Brian (Brianna) Miller of Washington, Robyn (Shawn) Vollan of Pollock Pines, Cami (Steve) Carr of Washington, and Nathan (Brooklyn) Thompson of Texas.

Van will also be remembered fondly by his extended family, including his uncle Dan (Sherrie) Krogh, aunt Jeanne Krogh, uncle Ed (Barbara) Miller, five cousins, four nieces, eight nephews, a great-niece, and four great-nephews.

And then there were his many friends, an essential part of Van's story. Van had an extraordinary way of connecting with others. Whether tinkering in the garage or swapping stories over coffee, he was never without company. He made friends easily and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His kindness, warmth, and loyalty earned him not just friends, but chosen family.

Van lived life with boldness and compassion. His adventurous spirit and generous heart defined him. He gave freely, helped often, and always managed to leave people better than he found them. His legacy lives on through the love he gave and the lives he touched.

A celebration of Van's life will be held later this year. Date and time will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Salvation Army, an organization Van deeply valued, or to a charity of your choice.

We mourn the loss of Van Thompson, but we also celebrate the vibrant life he lived. He will forever remain in our hearts.

Rest in peace, Van. You were one of a kind.
