Twyla Brown Obituary

"She had a heart that cared completely, a smile that shined endlessly, and a spirit that lifted everyone around her."

Ms. Twyla Deshawn Brown, 47, fought her battles with courage and grace and has now received her eternal reward. On Saturday, August 2, 2025, at her home surrounded by the love of her family, Twyla answered the call to take her well-deserved rest. Born on December 10, 1977, in Rowan County, she was the beloved daughter of Mary Sanders and the late Robert Lee Brown, Sr.

From an early age, Twyla was known for her compassion and joy-filled spirit. Educated in Buffalo, New York, she attended Kensington High School. While living in Buffalo, she began her career as a Home Health Aide--a role that perfectly aligned with her passion for caring for others. She poured her heart into her work, offering not just assistance, but genuine comfort, encouragement, and love to those in her care. This same dedication was evident in the way she nurtured her own children, building a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support.

Twyla's personality was infectious--her smile could light up any room, and her playful nature made her a joy to be around. Whether she was engrossed in games on her tablet, sipping her favorite Dr. Pepper, or cheering passionately for her beloved Carolina Panthers, she brought a sense of fun and togetherness to every gathering. Her sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make others feel special were gifts she shared freely.

Her life was a testament to resilience. She faced cancer head-on, overcame it, and inspired all who knew her with her strength and determination. Above all, she loved deeply--her family, her friends, and her community felt the depth of her care.

Those left to carry her memory forward are her children, Demekia Brown, Kenosha Brown, Jaylen Brown, and Tisean Brown, all of Salisbury, and Jayquan Brown of Lexington; her siblings, Robert (Tim) Brown, Jr., Marcus Brown, and Anthony Brown, all of Salisbury, Alexia Pruitt of Fort Lawn, SC, and John Leach of Salisbury; six cherished grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Her strength will be remembered, her laughter will be cherished, and her love will be felt for generations. Though she has departed this life, her legacy will continue to shine through the lives of those she touched--especially her children and grandchildren.
