Nancy Schenk Obituary

We lost our sweet Nay Nay, Mama, Wife, Sister, Aunt Nay - Nancy Lynn Miller Schenk on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Atrium Health Cabarrus. She was 69 years old and fought chronic lung disease for a long time.

Nancy was born June 8, 1956 in Iredell County to the late Jimmie and Rena Miller. She grew up in the middle of 2 other sisters. Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Tim Schenk, and resided in Salisbury most of her life. She was a school teacher for 26 years at Mt Ulla Elementary. She raised two children and eventually two sweet grandchildren. She devoted the most recent years of her life to her two granddaughters. Nothing brought her more joy than time spent with them. Nancy played tennis and basketball growing up, but more recently she loved watching NC State and Duke basketball.

Nancy was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a devout Christian. Most important in her life was filling it with family and friendships that she cherished so much. She was simple, beautiful and selfless in caring for others.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tim Schenk; daughter, Kari Schenk; son, Ryan Schenk and wife Amy; grandchildren: Laina and Bree Schenk; sisters, Leigh Graham and husband Scott and Chris Deal and husband Buddy; Candy Fesperman and family; mother-in-law, Sue Schenk and many nephews and nieces she loved very much.

While life is too short in many cases, life of fullness and joy and faith and love conquers all. We will miss you Nay.

The family will receive friends 11 AM - 1 PM Wednesday (July 30) at Salem Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM at Salem Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Schenk family. Online condolences may be made at www.summersettfuneralhome.com.

I am so saddened to hear this. Nancy and I were school mates, even though she was a grade ahead of me. She was a beautiful person, and she played basketball for West Rowan High School. She was tall, tanned and very nice, the way I remember her. Rest peacefully Nancy. This was very, very sad news. I cannot speak for everyone, but I know the class of 74 and 75 from West Rowan High School will truly miss Nancy Miller.
