DR. ANTHONY "TONY" B. CONSTANZO
March 23, 1930 - July 16, 2025
Dr. Anthony Blas Constanzo entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Tony, as he was affectionately known, was a beacon of hard work and compassion in the lives of all who had the privilege to know him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, dedication, and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of his life.
Tony was born on March 23, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, to Louis Constanzo and Concetta Talerico. His parents worked for Breckenridge Farms in his childhood years and then formed the Constanzo Brothers' Farms in Von Ormy. His parents were second generation Italians who came to Texas from Lucciano, Province of Caserto, Italy. Born into a family of hard-working farmers, Tony learned from an early age the value of discipline and service. His life demonstrated a passion for education, both in his own life and cultivating a love of learning in others.
After graduating from South San High School, he received his B. S from Texas Lutheran College, he then served 2 years in the US Army as a corporal before going back to school to earn a M.Ed, Administration and Supervision from Trinity University, and finally a Doctorate in Education and Administration from Nova University. He spent a total of 50 years in education. His passion was to provide all students from every background with an education, believing everyone deserved the opportunity to grow and thrive. He served as a coach, teacher, the Assistant Principal and Principal in NEISD before moving into the Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Instruction. He served in this role before taking on the role of the First Associate Superintendent at NEISD. He then took his expertise to East Central ISD and served as Superintendent and finally assisted Comal ISD as Interim Superintendent. In each of these roles, Tony left a lasting positive impact on the community and made many lifelong friends and colleagues along the way.
Tony would say that his greatest accomplishment was his wonderful family. He adored his wife "Marty," loved spending time with his family, and keeping his ranch home next door to his two sons in tip-top shape. He loved to travel and be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visits to the Texas coast at his beach house in Aransas Pass. An ardent sports fan (especially Cowboys and Longhorn football). He lived a life full of passion and leaves behind a legacy of service and love that his family and loved ones will continue to hold dear.
Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Martha Constanzo, and his son, Michael Constanzo. He is survived by his four children: David Constanzo, Ted Constanzo and his wife Cindy, Timothy Constanzo and his wife Melony, and Gail Constanzo Richmond and her husband John. His grandchildren include Sean Richmond (Lauren), Jason Constanzo, Cullen Constanzo (Danielle), Travis Constanzo (Jaye), Hannah Richmond (David Rodriguez), and Cassie Constanzo. Continuing his legacy into the next generation are his great grandchildren: Sadie Constanzo, Henry Constanzo, Everett Constanzo and Leif Constanzo. He is survived by his sister, JoAnn Postert and many nieces and nephews.
Tony's family will be forever grateful for the loving care and support provided by the staff and caregivers at Discovery Village Senior Living Stone Oak.
