Wayne Malone Obituary

Wayne Malone
September 18, 1941 - July 23, 2025
Wayne Malone, 83, of Adkins, Texas, passed away on July 23, 2025.
Born in Mercedes, Texas, on September 18, 1941, Tilman Wayne Malone - known to all as Wayne - graduated from Burbank High School in San Antonio in 1959. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy beginning in 1961 and was honorably discharged after four years of service.
On October 14, 1961, he married the love of his life, Hughleen Stribling. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Wayne worked for EcoLab from 1966 to 1998, where he earned recognition as a top salesman many times throughout his 32-year career. After retirement, he remained active and social with Hughleen by his side.
He had a lifelong love affair with cars. A true Ford man to the core, his garage was often filled with the hum of something being rebuilt or fine-tuned. As a member of the Gear Grinders Car Club, Wayne found a group of friends to share his hobby.
Camping was another of Wayne's great joys. Every summer, he and Hughleen would pack up the family and head out on camping trips with close friends. Wayne made sure these trips were full of fun, laughter, and the kind of moments that turn into lifelong stories.
Beyond his mechanical passions and outdoor adventures, Wayne also loved golf, fishing, poker nights, travel, and - above all - quality time with those he loved. He had a gift for friendship and a heart big enough to welcome everyone in.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Hughleen; daughter, Kelly J. Poore, and son-in-law, Martin Poore; honorary daughter, Leslie Stribling Nicol, and her husband, Bryan Nicol; grandchildren, Ryan J. Griffin, Alyssa N. Griffin, Adam L. Poore, and Kelly L. Poore; and sisters, Linda S. Smith (Larry) and Shirley J. Matthews (Steve).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Garland N. Malone; father, Tilman C. Malone; stepmother, Evelyn Malone; and brother, David H. Malone.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice in Wayne's memory.
