Virginia C. (Gini) Martin age 89 of Dixon, IL passed away in her home on Sunday July 6, 2025. Gini was born on March 28, 1936 in Orange, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Doris (Barker) Clarkson of Short Hills, New Jersey. Gini graduated from Millburn High School, New Jersey. She also graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. She married Merlin Martin Jr. in Chatham, New Jersey on December 22, 1956. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2008. She and Merl lived in Cleveland, Ohio and Richmond, Virginia before moving to Dixon, IL. Gini was a member of Moose Lodge 727 and Elks Lodge BPOE 779 in Dixon. She was a kindergarten teacher in Richmond and a teacher's aid for Dixon Public School System for 20 years (1979-1999). Gini enjoyed participating in the Richmond Garden Club, bowling, traveling, and playing bingo and cards with family and friends. She spent most of her summers in Vermont with her sister and family. Gini had many wonderful pets through her life with her most recent favorite four legged friend being Katla, Mary and Jeff's miniature dachshund. Survivors include two sons Merlin "Bud" (Leslee) Martin of Dixon, Jeff (Mary) Martin of Byron, grandson Ryan (Amanda Stephens) Martin of Irving, TX, a sister-in-law Anne LaBeaux of King City, OR, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Gini was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Lois Vanderminden, brother-in-law Robert Vanderminden, brother-in-law Armand LaBeaux, and brother-in-law Norman Martin. A private family service will be held for immediate family to celebrate Gini's Life. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon.
